Replicas agents can schedule their own follow-ups. Ask an agent to remind you about something later, or to keep checking on something until it's done, and it creates a temporary automation that runs on that schedule, reports back, and deletes itself when the work is finished.
Ask for a follow-up in the chat
Tell the agent when to come back and what to do. For example:
- "Remind me in 7 days to delete the legacy billing code." The agent creates a one-time automation for a week from now. When it runs, the agent checks the code and sends you a Slack message.
- "Ping me every morning until I review PR #4519." The agent creates a weekday automation with a run limit. Each morning it checks the pull request and messages you if it still needs a review. Once you've reviewed it, the agent deletes the automation.
Each run is sent to the same workspace and conversation, waking the workspace if it's asleep, so the agent has the context of your original request.
Where follow-ups appear
Follow-ups are regular automations. One-time follow-ups go in the collapsed Background section of the Automations page so they don't crowd the main list. Recurring follow-ups appear in the main list. You can edit, delete, or move any automation between the two from its row.
When follow-ups end
A one-time follow-up deletes itself after it runs. A recurring follow-up deletes itself after its last run, and the agent can delete it earlier once the condition is met. Run history and workspaces are kept. If the final run fails, the automation is kept so you can retry it.
Writing a good follow-up request
- Say when the follow-up should stop, such as "for 3 days" or "until it's reviewed."
- Say where to report back: a Slack message, a reply in the original thread, or a pull request comment.
