# Devin pricing in 2026: plans, quotas, ACUs, and what to do when it gets too expensive

Devin’s self-serve plans run from free to $200 a month, and Teams starts at an $80 monthly minimum. Since April 2026, usage beyond each plan’s quota is billed in dollars instead of ACUs, while Enterprise customers still pay per ACU. This guide covers every plan, what drives the cost of a task, why Devin bills climb, and cheaper ways to delegate the same work to cloud agents. Checked against Devin’s pricing page, documentation, and Cognition’s announcements on October 9, 2026.

## Devin plans and prices

Every paid self-serve plan includes a usage quota for Devin cloud sessions, the Devin CLI, and Devin Desktop, the editor formerly called Windsurf. Past the quota, you pay with prepaid on-demand credits.

| Plan | Price | Included usage | Past the quota |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0, one member | A light quota and limited models | Upgrade to a paid plan |
| Pro | $20/month, one member | A daily and weekly quota, with access to frontier models and Devin cloud sessions | Prepaid credits, priced on the model cost of each run |
| Max | $200/month, one member | A much larger weekly quota with no daily cap | Same as Pro |
| Teams | $80/month minimum; $40/month per full seat | Each full seat gets a quota equal to Pro; free flex seats use only shared credits; up to 200 members | Shared credits for the whole team |
| Enterprise | Custom | ACUs at the rate in your order form, with SSO and dedicated or VPC deployment | Set by contract |

### How quotas and credits work

Source: https://docs.devin.ai/admin/billing/self-serve

Quotas refresh automatically on a daily and weekly schedule, and Pro’s daily allowance is more than a seventh of its weekly one. Devin doesn’t publish the size of any quota. Purchased credits never expire.

On Teams, the $80 minimum is met by full seats or, with fewer than two, topped up as prepaid credits the team shares. Credits are shared across all members, and Devin Review and automations draw from them rather than from seat quotas. When credits run out, automations stop running and Devin Review “switches to its smart diff viewer.”

## What happened to Devin ACUs

Until April 2026, Devin billed self-serve usage in Agent Compute Units (ACUs). The Core plan was pay-as-you-go at $2.25 per ACU, and the Team plan cost $500 a month with 250 ACUs included.

On April 14, 2026, Cognition replaced ACUs for self-serve customers with included quotas, with extra usage “priced and billed in dollars rather than ACUs.” The old Core and Team plans went away. Free doesn’t keep Core’s no-minimum pay-as-you-go billing, and Cognition said Teams “lowers the entry point relative to the old $500/month Team plan.”

Enterprise contracts still meter ACUs, at a rate set in each customer’s order form. Devin doesn’t publish that rate, so Enterprise costs can only be compared after a quote.

## What drives the cost of a Devin task

Devin doesn’t list a price per task. Its documentation says usage depends on the “number and complexity of actions Devin takes,” plus VM time and bandwidth, which are “typically a small fraction of total usage.” Beyond the quota, extra usage is priced on the underlying model cost of each run.

- Devin uses almost nothing while it waits for your reply, waits for a test suite, or clones and sets up repositories, apart from keeping the VM running.
- Sessions go to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity and use nothing while asleep. Enterprise customers can ask Cognition to set that timeout anywhere from 5 to 120 minutes.
- Windows sessions use about 9% more than the same work on Linux.
- Devin Review is billed by usage after a two-week free trial. Reviews of public open-source pull requests at devinreview.com are free.
- Deep Mode in Ask Devin is billed by usage. The rest of Ask Devin, and DeepWiki’s standard generation, stay free.

## Why Devin gets expensive

Pro’s $20 entry price is low. Costs climb for people and teams that use Devin heavily, for these reasons.

- You can’t see how much quota a plan includes, so there is no way to estimate monthly use before you hit the limit.
- Large or loosely scoped tasks take more actions, and actions are what use up quota.
- Past the quota, you prepay credits priced on model cost, so long sessions on frontier models add up quickly.
- On Teams, flex seats, Devin Review, and automations all draw on one credit pool. When it runs out, automations stop until someone tops it up.
- Code review is metered. Devin Review is billed by usage after its free trial, and Cognition moved teams that reviewed every commit to reviewing only when a pull request is first opened.
- The agent and its billing come from one vendor. Apart from linking a ChatGPT subscription for GPT models, you can’t move the work onto model subscriptions you already pay for.

## How to lower your Devin bill

Devin’s own documentation recommends most of these.

- Give Devin clearly scoped tasks with a defined end goal, and keep unrelated work out of the same session.
- Split large projects into smaller sub-tasks in parallel sessions instead of one long session.
- On Pro, Max, or Teams, link an eligible ChatGPT subscription so GPT model usage bills there instead of to your Devin quota.
- Use Devin Coach, which flags inefficient prompts before you send them.
- Give occasional users free flex seats instead of $40 full seats.
- Run Devin Review when a pull request is first opened, or manually, rather than on every commit.
- On Enterprise, use usage policies to cap each member’s monthly consumption.

## A cheaper way to delegate work to cloud agents

Replicas, which publishes this guide, covers the same delegated workflow as Devin. You assign a task from Slack, Linear, GitHub, GitLab, a schedule, or the API, an agent works on it in its own cloud VM, and you get back a pull request to review. The difference is how you pay for it.

Replicas doesn’t resell model usage. Claude Code signs in with your Claude subscription or Anthropic API key, Codex with your ChatGPT subscription or OpenAI key, OpenCode and Pi with a $10-a-month OpenCode Go plan, and Cursor with a Cursor API key. You pay Replicas for workspace time and your provider for the model, so a team that already pays for Claude Max or ChatGPT Pro moves heavy agent work onto plans it has.

| | Devin | Replicas |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Individual plan | Free, Pro at $20/month, or Max at $200/month, with model usage in the quota | Developer at $50/month for 150 manual workspace hours, plus your agent subscription |
| Team plan | $80/month minimum; $40 per full seat; free flex seats use shared credits | $200 per Full seat with unlimited manual workspace hours, or Flex seats at $0.016 a minute |
| Model usage | Included quota, then prepaid credits priced on model cost | Billed by your own provider, through subscriptions or API keys |
| Agents | Devin | Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, Pi, and Muse Code |
| Automations and API | Draw on the team’s shared credits | $0.008 to $0.016 per workspace minute; a 25-minute small workspace costs $0.20 |
| Enterprise | ACUs at a negotiated rate | Custom, with SOC 2, SCIM, audit logs, static egress IPs, and self-hosted deployment |

### What flat-rate agent subscriptions cost

Source: https://replicas.dev/resources/codex-vs-claude-code

These are the subscriptions most teams connect. Replicas workspaces use minutes only while they are awake, and sleeping workspaces cost nothing.

- Claude Code on Claude Max 5x: $100 a month. 5× the Pro allowance per session; resets every five hours, with a weekly limit.
- Claude Code on Claude Max 20x: $200 a month. 20× the Pro allowance per session; same resets and weekly limit.
- Codex on ChatGPT Pro: $100 or $200 a month. No five-hour limit; weekly limits may apply.
- OpenCode or Pi on OpenCode Go: $10 a month. Usage caps on open coding models.

### When a subscription reaches its limit

Source: https://docs.replicas.dev/admin/credentials

Replicas moves the chat along a fallback chain you set, to another credential for the same agent or to a different agent with the conversation carried over, so work doesn’t stop at a limit. Analytics show agent time by person, agent, model, and credential. Check each provider’s terms before using a personal subscription on a hosted platform, and use API keys for production pipelines.

## When Devin is still the better deal

Devin is the cheaper choice in some situations.

- You are one person with light usage. Devin Pro at $20 includes model usage in its quota, while Replicas Developer is $50 before your agent subscription.
- You are a small team that uses agents lightly. Devin Teams starts at $80 a month with $40 seats, while a Replicas Full seat is $200. Replicas Flex seats, billed by the minute, close much of that gap for occasional users.
- You want Devin’s own agent, Devin Desktop, Devin Review, and DeepWiki on one bill.

## FAQ

### How much does Devin cost?
Devin Free costs nothing, Pro is $20 a month, and Max is $200 a month. Teams is usage-based with an $80 monthly minimum and $40 a month for each full seat. Enterprise pricing is custom and billed in ACUs. Usage beyond a plan’s quota is paid with prepaid credits.

### Does Devin still use ACUs?
Only on Enterprise. Since April 14, 2026, self-serve plans use included quotas, and extra usage is billed in dollars. Enterprise customers are billed in ACUs at the rate in their order form.

### How much is a Devin ACU?
Devin doesn’t publish an ACU price. Enterprise rates are set in each order form. Before April 2026, the self-serve Core plan charged $2.25 per ACU, and the $500-a-month Team plan included 250 ACUs.

### Is there a free version of Devin?
Yes. The Free plan includes a light quota and limited models for one member. Devin Review has a two-week free trial, reviews of public open-source pull requests are free, and DeepWiki’s standard generation is free.

### How much does Devin Teams cost?
Teams has an $80 monthly minimum. Full seats cost $40 a month each and include a quota equal to Pro. Flex seats are free and use the team’s shared on-demand credits. Teams supports up to 200 members.

### Is Devin worth it?
For light individual use, Pro at $20 is inexpensive because model usage is included in its quota. Heavy users and teams that run many sessions, automations, and reviews pay for credits beyond the quota. If your team already pays for Claude or ChatGPT subscriptions, compare against running Claude Code or Codex on them in a cloud agent platform.

### What is a cheaper alternative to Devin?
Replicas runs the same kind of delegated cloud work, from a ticket or Slack message to a reviewed pull request, using Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, or Pi on your own subscriptions or API keys. Model usage bills to your provider, and Replicas charges for workspace time. OpenHands is an open-source option if you want to self-host.

## Delegate work to cloud agents on your own subscriptions

Replicas includes a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. Connect a GitHub or GitLab repository, define the environment once, sign in Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, or Cursor with the subscriptions or keys you already pay for, and start a task from the web, desktop, or iOS app, Slack, Linear, or a pull request comment. Each task runs in its own Linux VM and comes back as a pull request your team reviews.
